A movie of horror from 2011 resurfaced on TikTok and has spooked many fans of the genre. Titled as Megan is Missing, the production was banned from New Zealand for its graphic content, which led even the director of the film to warn his viewers not to watch it at night.

In the film, two 14-year-old best friends, Megan Stewart (Rachel Quinn) and Amy Herman (Amber Perkins), live happily in North Hollywood until the moment they megan disappears after meeting someone you met online.

New Zealand film rating bodyOffice of Film & Literature Classification justified the censorship:

The feature depicts sexual violence and sexual conduct involving young people to such an extent and degree, and in such a manner, that the availability of the publication is likely to be detrimental to the public good.”

michael goidirector of the feature, made a statement after scenes from the film went viral on TikTok (via The Sun):

(…) don’t watch the movie in the middle of the night, don’t watch the movie alone, and if the words ‘picture number one’ appear on the screen, you have about four seconds to turn off the movie if you’re already scared before you start watching these scenes, you may not be able to see [o filme] until the end.”

Megan is Missing contains numerous graphic scenes of torture of minors, and during its release, it was the subject of criticism being called “social disservice”. It is worth mentioning that michael goi he was also the director of some of the episodes of American Horror Story.
