6 weeks after the arrest of Jonathan Majors on charges of domestic violence, a trial will begin against the plaintiff of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania And Creed III.
Majors, who appeared yesterday in a preliminary trial via Zoom, faces up to a year in prison or three years of probation. As established by judge Rachel S. Pauleythe actor has to appear in court on June 13.
Outside the courthouse, Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhryhe told the press:
“We provided the DA with irrefutable evidence that the woman was lying, including video evidence showing that nothing happened, especially when and where she claimed.” Majors’ attorney said, continuing “We did this with a clear promise from the prosecutor that their story would not be “fixed” and that it would not change because we proved the woman was lying.”
“However, this false case continues, the location that the woman points to has changed, as well as her story. This is a real witch hunt against Jonathan Majors, led by baseless accusations. Rather than dismissing the charges (against Majors, ed) in light of the woman’s clear lies, the district attorney preferred to amend the version to accommodate the woman’s new lies. And just to make one point clear, no further charges against Mr. Majors.” said the lawyer.
“We now have additional video evidence of her innocence, but we are reluctant to share it, for fear that the district attorney will tell the woman how to change her story again. The justice system is saturated with outright and innuendo prejudices. When Mr. Majors showed a white policeman the wounds the woman had inflicted on him, the white policeman bluntly mocked him by saying that if he slapped Mr. Majors, the policeman’s fingers would not be broken.” The lawyer then went on to conclude: “None of the white police officers present investigated the attack on Mr. Majors. Worse, the district attorney has not indicated plans to file formal charges against the woman, or to continue investigating the facts. A clear example of the double weighting between the treatment of Jonathan Majors, a black man who weighs 200 pounds (about 90kg, ed), and his accuser, underscores the racial prejudice that permeates criminal justice system”.
