Pierre Niney alongside Al Pacino and Johnny Depp!
Pierre Niney he is one of the most important French actors of the moment. In recent years, we have seen this particularly in OSS 117: Red alert in black Africa (2021), Black box (2021) or even Masquerade (2022), not forgetting his appearances in The torch AND Lol: Whoever laughs, goes out. Its popularity is great in France.
However, we didn’t necessarily expect to see him join an international cast for a project that brings together two of the greatest actors in American cinema: Johnny Depp and Al Pacino ! Yet it is the announcement just made Expiration. According to the American media, Johnny Depp would have prepared a biopic about the Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920).

Although Amber Heard’s domestic violence allegations and his defamation lawsuit against her have tarnished his image in Hollywood, the actor is continuing plans. After playing Louis XV in Joan of Barry (May 16 in theaters and at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival), it will therefore be go behind the camera againas he had already done in 1997 with The braveto make this movie titled Modi. And to make the feature film he would have chosen Al Pacino and Pierre Niney, in addition to the Italian Riccardo Scamarcio.
48 hours with Modigliani
Modi should focus on the artist’s life in Paris in 1916. The tone specifies that the story will unfold 48 hours during which Modigliani will try to escape the police by hiding in the streets and bars of Paris. Deadline writes:
He wanted to end his career prematurely and leave the city, but his bohemian friends prevented him: the French artist Maurice Utrillo, the Belarusian Chaïm Soutine and his English muse and lover Beatrice Hastings. Modi turned to his art dealer friend Leopold Zborowski for advice, but chaos ensued when he came face-to-face with a collector who could change his life.
Pierre Niney should therefore embody Maurice Utrillo, while Riccardo Scarmacio will have the main role. Al Pacino would be the art collector. The latter will then collaborate once again with Johnny Depp, since the two actors had formed an excellent duo in Donnie Brasco (1997).
As for Pierre Niney, if this project imposes a few with the names that go with it, it will soon bring another major film: The Count of Monte Cristo scheduled for 2024.
