Today, as in the childhood of many of us, everyone is advised to drink fish oil. Specifically, consume omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Those who don’t eat fish and seafood sometimes wonder: will the brain end up functioning worse than fish lovers? Let’s find out !
Responsible vegans and those who live in areas where fish is hard to find come out of the situation like this: eat nuts and seeds. Thus, they obtain fatty acids and vitamin D from other foods.
Why are these elements so important? Omega-3s help control mood and attention, prevent the development of Alzheimer’s disease and other memory problems. Vitamin D fights fatigue and supports the immune system.
You can get omega-3s from, for example, hazelnuts, sunflower and chia seeds and vitamin supplements. Vitamin D is also found in egg yolk and milk.
But, undoubtedly, it is more convenient to get all this “at once” by starting to eat fish. Even if you can’t stand it, consider that tastes change over time. Don’t start with oily fish or sprats, instead try light and flavorful (and no “fishy” taste!) flounder or dorado. Bake the fish on the grill, sprinkle with cheese or your favorite spices. As for seafood, many agree, for example, on shrimp or mussels. As a result, you will not only discover a new range of tastes for yourself, but also give your body many useful substances!
