Opening scene in the premiere episode obi wan kenobi It sets the perfect tone for the Disney+ series, directed by Deborah Chow, and Quentin Tarantino fans will clearly be paying homage to one of his classic films.

six parts war of the galaxies The miniseries opens on Disney+ with the Inquisitors arriving at the tattoo parlor and looking for the Jedi. Three powerful and dangerous forces of the galactic empire enter the bar to scare the inside out and make the Jedi reveal themselves. The Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend) asks the bar owner if he knows who he is and what he does, to which the man replies that he knows the Inquisitor is a Jedi hunter.

The Grand Inquisitor explains the “key” to hunting down Jedi as it puts more pressure on the owner, implying he sees all signs that the Jedi are hiding there. The Grand Inquisitor then discusses the “rumors” that have spread about his activities while hunting the Jedi. The Jedi eventually reveal themselves, but that’s not because the owner (deliberately) gave up on him.

Looks like this moment is aimed at Tarantino’s terrifying opening Busterds of Ubadruk, In which a ruthless SS officer, Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz), questions French farmer Perrier Lapadite (Dennis Menoche) about the whereabouts of a Jewish family in his home.

Landa asks Lapadite if he knows who he is and what he’s doing, to which the farmer responds in the affirmative. As the macabre scene unfolds, Landa puts more pressure on Lapadite, which means he sees every sign that the family is hiding there. During this period, Landa talks about how much he likes “rumors” and wants to know from Lapaditi what he has heard about the family’s whereabouts. Waltz won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.
