After 11 days of celebration of cinema, Venice show closed its 82nd edition and its international jury presented a balanced but conservative record for a competition with political accents, with contemporary monstrosity, parenting, precariousness, emergency and crises as first choices of images and stories brought to the screen. Themes intertwined in many of the 21 films that constituted the competition of this edition of 2025.

The international jury of Venice shows 2025 was composed, under the presidency of Alexander Payne, Stéphane Brizé, Maura Delpero, Cristian Mungiu, Mohammad Rasoulof, Fernanda Torres and Zhao Tao. On top of a list of portraits of individuals in crisis – a UFC drug addict fighter in The Smashing machineTwo young women fighting Silent friend AND The sun rises on all of usa precarious writer in At work -, the jury assigned the golden lion to the American director Jim Jarmush for his family dramatic family Father mother sister brother.
