many fans of Neil Gaiman questioned why the Lucifer of production will not be lived by Tom Ellis, who played the character in the Netflix series. On Twitter, the filmmaker revealed the reason for choosing Lucifer from The Sandmaninspired by the author’s comic book work.
“His Lucifer, though inspired by Lucifer from sandman, ended up going so far in the series that it seemed easier for everyone to just go back to the comic book version. And so you can’t guess what our Lucifer is going to do either,” Gaiman declared.
Because his Lucifer, while inspired by the Lucifer in Sandman, is so far away in terms of Sandman continuity by the end of LUCIFER, that it’s easier on everyone to go back to the version in the comics. Neil ended the tweet by expressing his affection for Ellis, saying that he is “lovable”. Replacing Tom in the new Netflix production, Lucifer will be played by Gwendoline Christiein game of Thrones.

The first season of the series should adapt the initial plot of the comics, titled “Preludes and Nocturnes” currently. in the plot, Dream (Tom Sturridge), the ruler of the Dreaming, is imprisoned after a ritual that sought to arrest the Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), your sister.
The ruler is imprisoned for 70 years, until he finally breaks free and begins a journey to return to reigning over the Dreaming and recover his three powerful tools: a pouch full of sand, a ruby and a helm.
The cast still has David Thewlis, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Jenna Coleman, Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Razane Jammal, Kyo Ra, Sandra James Young, Stephen Fry, Joely Richardson, Niamh Walsh and Patton Oswalt.
