Experts constantly argue about how to build a healthy diet. But the scientists intend to put an end to the discussions – they found out which product is more correct and useful.
Researchers at William Paterson University in New Jersey in the US looked at the nutrient content of 41 foods – the ratio of vitamins, fiber and calories. Surprisingly, only one product was able to provide 100% of daily nutrient requirements.
And it’s watercress! It’s packed with vitamin C, vitamin A, iron, calcium, potassium, and magnesium, as well as a host of antioxidants. Other benefits: Thanks to essential oils, the product has a soothing and antitussive effect in respiratory ailments and, according to research, has a detoxifying and blood purifying effect on the body.
The second place is occupied by Chinese cabbage, of which only 100 grams cover a quarter of the daily vitamin C requirement.
A bronze of scientists received Swiss chard – leafy beet. The top 10 also included beet greens, spinach, chicory, lettuce, parsley, romaine lettuce and collard greens.
