The director offers a superb recreation of the era as Hollywood no longer does. Nothing new in itself for the director ofAviator OR New York gangswhich here demonstratesflawless mastery.

During most of his film, he leaves a dark atmosphere, where danger at every corner for the Osage it is particularly reflected in the music, with the rhythm of a recurring bass line accompanied by the harmonica.
A cast of choice in the service of the Osage
However, behind Visual quality up to expectations, The flower moon killers it is above all an important job for promote Native American culture (as we have rarely seen), and do justice to the Osage. And for that, the massive duration (3:26) is justified (even if cuts could have been considered).
Martin Scorsese finds the right balance between a certain form of spectacle, with sublime framing (a field in flames that recalls The Harvests of Heaven), and a political approach that seems honest – with a fine appearance by the director in a brilliant denouement. The assembly of him is therefore fundamental, as it is his way of staging murders, surprisingly cold.
Finally, what about the performances of its main actors? Leonardo DiCaprio offers again an inhabited servicegoing from a manipulable beta to a real rot more in love with money than with his wife. Robert De Niro still dictates itperfectly bringing his nickname of the King back into the film and offering his typical facial expressions without falling into parody.
His character, the real Godfather of terrifying deception, suits him very well. But we must not forget the excellent Lily Gladstone, capable for his charisma, his restraint, his crooked smile, sometimes even stealing the show from DiCaprio. A magnificent heroine among the wolves.
