LOL: Whoever laughs, goes out : out of the question for Blanche Gardin

On April 20, 2023, Blanche Gardin posted a long message on Facebook explaining her refusal to participate in the program. LOL: Whoever laughs, gets out!, streaming on Prime Video. Speaking directly with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the comedian specifically stated in the indictment of him:

It also happens that I would feel ashamed to the bone (not to mention really hurt my ass) to be paid €200,000 for a day’s work even if I lose at your game, when the charity of my choice would win €50,000, that’s to say four times less, and again, only if I win.

The actress also criticized the working conditions of the company, its ecological impact or even its use “of labor from Uyghur concentration camps”. A message to which Amazon responded calmly, claiming that Blanche Gardin’s statement contained “false and inaccurate comments” and emphasizing its “excellent quality service”, “its commitment to the fight against climate change” as well as the “safe and modern working environment” it offers its employees.

Even some participants in the game hosted by Philippe Lacheau reacted to the comedian’s comments. Ahmed Sylla, for example, said the actress would be “pushing the sliders” on salaries, adding:

There was a rumor that someone was taking 300,000 or 400,000 euros, but that’s not true. The agents talk to each other and it’s not about these amounts. It’s not that price. (…) I didn’t find it nice of him, he puts shame on everyone who did. I really like Blanche, even if we don’t know each other and we’re not friends. She pretty much she does: everyone who’s done it sucks, I’m better off.

Ramzy Bedia reacts

In a magazine interview Society, Ramzy Bedia also spoke on the matter. The latter first assured that if Blanche Gardin does not want to participate LOL: Whoever laughs, gets out!, “looks at her”. She continued (via rtl extension):

Me personally, when my tiling friends or bus drivers found out that there was this salary for a day’s work, they said to me: ‘If you don’t do it, we’ll cut your throat. Do you know how much we earn? Do you know how pissed you get to earn 2,200 euros a month? You have this chance, so take it.

Saying it with humor “(his) mother kills him” if “he doesn’t”concluded the comedian:

We don’t all have the same story, we don’t all come from the same place. The only common ground is this big check. I understand that everyone approaches it differently. Personally, I take it. That we respect Blanche Gardin’s opinion and that we respect mine.
