In yoga, the grasshopper posture is called Shalabhasana. Even a beginner can repeat this asana and feel its powerful transformative effect.

Shalabhasana is one of the easiest yoga poses and helps prepare the body for more complex backbends. It is also called the cricket or grasshopper pose – although it is difficult to say that the exercise resembles the appearance of these insects 🙂

It is believed that the cricket pose has a rejuvenating effect. This is due to the fact that the asana affects all muscle groups at once, making them stronger and more resilient. In addition, it has a beneficial effect on metabolic processes in the body and stimulates the abdominal organs.

Grasshopper pose is best done on a fitness mat, combining it with other helpful exercises. However, you can repeat it directly in bed to activate the body after waking up.

  • Lie on your stomach, feet shoulder width apart
  • As you inhale, bring your arms back and lift your upper body and legs
  • Keep your arms, legs, and body in the air for 30-60 seconds, remembering to follow your breath
  • Gently lower yourself and rest, then repeat the position if desired.

During the asana it is very important to watch the neck and lower back – they should not have the main stroke! Try to distribute the load evenly – this exercise will seem more difficult, but it will give a greater effect. Over time, you will find it easier to engage your leg and back muscles. After all, the main secret to health and beauty lies in regular loads!
