Franck Gastambide raises the bar
Having distinguished himself in the thriller Tirelessly in 2022, and as Barbe-Rouge in Asterix and Obelix: The Middle KingdomFranck Gastambide is back with his new goal, Medellin, on Prime Video. A crazy action comedy in which the creator of flap AND Valid have fun mixing punchlines and stunts in a great show of action and humor.

Pablito (Brahim Bouhlel) is a young Youtuber, fascinated by Pablo Escobar. He decides to make his dream come true by going to Medellin in the footsteps of the drug baron. A few days later, it is through a video posted on his social networks that the world discovers that Pablito is in the hands of dangerous drug traffickers, who demand a huge ransom to free him. “Plata or Plomo!”. But what the Narcos don’t know is that Pablito has an older brother, Reda (Ramzy Bedia), and that older brother has a plan as simple as it is completely crazy: to put together a team, raid Colombia to face the men of the cartel and bring back his little brother safe and sound…
Drug dealers, action and Mike Tyson
Reda, aided by his best friend Stan (Franck Gastambide) and the inconsiderate Chafik (Anouar Toubali), then leaves for Medellin where, of course, nothing will go as planned. Chase in the barrio Escobar, beginning of a love story with a policeman undercoverkidnapping of a powerful drug trafficker…
The three friends, willing but not necessarily very talented, will do everything to bring Brahim, known as “Pablito”, back home safe and sound. And to do so they can count on the help of Robbie, a former CIA agent played by boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Result: an explosive, captivating comedy in which actor and director Franck Gastambide has put everything he loves about Hollywood cinema, sprinkling his Medellin references and winks.
Medellin is available on Prime Video from June 2, 2023.
