Arden Cho played Kira Yukimura in the iconic teen series – Dylan O’Brien also won’t return for the Teen Wolf movie
Arden Chointerpreter of Kira Yukimura in Teen Wolf, opened up about why he didn’t return to the role in the teen sitcom movie. In an interview with The Cutthe actress commented on how the salary inequality in relation to the other co-stars were decisive factors in this decision.
On the Serie, Kira possessed various powers, such as the ability to absorb and manipulate electricity. In seasons 4 and 5, the artist became part of the regular cast, and joined Dylan O’Brien (Stiles Stilinski), Tyler Hoechlin (Derek Hale), Tyler Posey (Scott McCall) and Holland Roden (Lydia Martin), between others.
Teen Wolf ended in 2017 after the 6th season, of which Arden Cho was not a part of it, but fans have remained passionate about the show and many are calling for a continuation or reboot. In early 2022, it was announced that a film was in development with many of the original cast members slated to return.
However, shortly after the announcement, it was revealed as O’Brien and Cho would not return. The actress’ reason for refusing would have been on account of the pay: she would receive half the salary of the female co-stars.
“I think I was offered even less. I would probably never share it. I could probably, in my head, think of more than 10 Asian-American actors I know who were paid significantly less than their peers,” he said. The Cut. Sometimes you don’t have the option to say ‘no.’ Sometimes you just need to.”
You have bills to pay. I didn’t necessarily say ‘no’ to myself or because I was angry. I said ‘no’ because I hope there will be more equality in the future.

The filming of the Teen Wolfstarted and the Entertainment Weekly released the first behind-the-scenes images of the production that will continue the MTV teen series. The photos show the scenery of the high school in Bacon Hills, the city where the story takes place and reveal the look of Tyler Poseywho plays the protagonist Scott McCall. Check out:

According to the official synopsis, “A full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it comes a terrible evil. The wolves are howling once more, calling for the return of banshees, werecoyotes, hellhounds, kitsunes, and every other shifter of the night. But just a werewolf like Scott McCallno longer a teenager but still an alpha, can gather new allies and trusted friends to fight what could be the deadliest and most powerful enemy they have ever faced.”
In addition to Poseyother actors return to the production as Crystal Reed as Allison Argent, Holland Roden as Lydia Martin, Colton Haynes as Jackson Whittemore and Shelley Hennig as Malia Tate. Orny Adams, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne, Seth Gilliam, Colton Haynes, Ryan Kelley, Melissa Ponzio and Dylan Sprayberry are also on the list.
Nonetheless, Dylan O’Brienwho played the best friend of Scott, Stiles Stilinski, will not return to the series, as well as Arden Cho and Tyler Hoechlin. For now, there is no confirmed premiere date, but the production should reach the Paramount+ still in 2022.
