Tom Holland: From Billy Elliot to Spider-Man
Young comedian Tom Holland has had a meteoric rise in his career. Born on June 1, 1996, he started getting noticed at an early age. After studying at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Holland made his London stage debut, playing the role of Billy Elliot in the musical of the same name.
This role brought him critical recognition and laid the foundation for his promising career. In 2015 he was chosen to play the famous Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a role that propelled his career globally. Before embodying spider-man, we especially remember him in The impossible in 2012, in which he gave the answer to Naomi Watts. Recently, the actor has been shooting in series The crowded room, available on Apple TV+. A project in which he plays the lead role, that of Danny Sullivan, a man arrested following his involvement in a New York shooting in 1979. Based on a series of interrogations carried out by the scheming Rya Goodwin (played by Amanda Seyfried), This thriller unravels Danny’s life, from the mysterious elements of his past that shaped him to the twists and turns that lead to a life-changing revelation. A role for which he has invested a lot, physically and mentally (the series is about mental illness), and which has left its mark.
The comedian, in fact, announced in a recent video (via variety) who was taking a break from his career. More precisely, he said he was going to quit for a whole yearto recover from the shooting of The crowded roomproject of which he was also producer:
This show really wore me out. There was a time when I needed to take a break, disappear and go to Mexico for a week, hang out on a beach and be low key. Well, I’m taking a sabbatical year (…) it reveals the difficulty of shooting this series (…)
Early last month, Tom Holland confided on the mic ofEntertainment Weekly on the negative effects this role had on his personal life:
I remember having kind of a meltdown at home and thinking, ‘I’m going to shave my head. I need to shave my head because I have to get rid of this character.’ And obviously, we were in the middle of filming, so I decided against it… It was a totally different experience to anything I’ve had before.
