Every day our body burns calories – even if we don’t exercise. However, if the sleep rhythm is disturbed, metabolic processes are disturbed and appetite increases. And quite impressive.

Everyone has their own daily caloric intake. It depends on gender, age, height, weight, activity and many other factors. But on average, women are recommended to consume no more than 1600-1800 calories per day – if you do not want to gain weight and even lose weight slowly but surely.

However, we must not forget that it is during sleep that our body produces leptin, the hormone responsible for the feeling of hunger. When we don’t get enough sleep, leptin synthesis decreases. But the synthesis of the “appetite hormone” ghrelin, on the contrary, increases! It is this phenomenon that explains the increased need for food after a sleepless night.

However, when you wake up the next day, you will instantly deplete this side supply. After all, as it was found out in the course of research, regular and periodic observance of the 4-hour sleep regimen increases a person’s appetite by about 900 kcal per day. Now imagine how much you can overeat if you don’t sleep through the night…or if you suffer from regular lack of sleep. This is why sleep disturbances are considered one of the main causes of overweight.
