In an interview with Variety, Jenna Ortega gave details about the 2nd season of Wandinha – which promises to bring even more the air of terror with a pinch of morbid sarcasm
Released in 2022, the first season of Wandinha was one of the biggest hits in Netflix of the year. Now, the already confirmed second year of the series starring Jenna Ortega will explore the darker side of the iconic character, who has also been portrayed by Lisa Loring, Christina Ricciamong other actresses.
In an interview with Variety, ortega revealed that the new seasonpromises to bring a Wandinha much darker, finally bringing the air of terror with hints of morbid sarcasm so characteristic to the narrative of cartoonist Charles Addams, creator of the characters – and even gave details of what they intend to develop in the 2nd season.
We’re ditching any romantic love interests, which is really great. Let’s get bolder, darker.
Previously, Jenna had already declared to be against the love triangle imposed on the plot. Now the interpreter of Wandinha believes that, with the removal of tyler (Hunter Doohan), the character will be away from boys for a while.
“I feel like she Xavier (Percy Hynes White) are arriving at a safe place. I think there’s an opportunity for a really sweet platonic relationship,” the actress explained. “I don’t think it’s very often shown men and women having safe platonic relationships, which aren’t romantic, they’re just genuine relationships, almost like siblings. I think it would be wonderful to see that.”
A Wandinha in the version of Tim Burton reached the platform Netflix at the end of last year, in November. In a short time, the production became one of the most watched streaming in the English language, surpassing 410 million hours watched worldwide in the opening week, between November 28 and December 4.
Before being officially renewed for a second season, Wandinha also recorded another great achievement: two nominations for Golden Globes 2023including those of Best Television Series – Musical or Comedyit’s from Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy for Jenna Ortega.
