Hunger Games: where is the saga?
The film saga The Hunger Games debuted in 2012 is based on the novels of Suzanne Collins. It takes place in a dystopian universe, in which a dictatorship reigns which organizes the terrible hunger games every year: in an arena, 24 tributes from the twelve districts of Panem, a boy and a girl, are selected to fight to death in a televised arena.
The saga is particularly interested in the fate of Katniss Everdeen, a courageous and determined young girl who lives in the poorest neighborhood of Panem. When her younger sister is chosen to compete in the Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers for her, starting a revolution against the Capitol. Become the symbol of hope for the oppresseds, a rebellious force that challenges authority and inspires others to fight for freedom. In the four films that make up the saga, Katniss Everdeen is played by Jennifer Lawrence, who became a big star thanks to this role.
Eight years after witnessing Katniss’ victory on Capitol Hill, we’re about to reunite with Panem in a fifth film (due in November): The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbirdbased on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins published in 2020. This is a prequel set sixty years before the first film.. Katniss is therefore not present. Or at least not yet.

Of course, right now, no other Hunger Games movies starring Katniss Everdeen are in development. However, being the saga one of the most profitable in cinema (three billion dollars at the box office), anything is possible in Hollywood. However, Suzanne Collins should have written a new story with Katniss Everdeen years later (without necessarily taking into account the epilogue of the last film…)
