A piece : an expected adaptation to the turn
By undertaking a live adaptation of A piecewe can tell Netflix he has a taste for risk. On the one hand, with the popularity of manga and anime (Eiichiro Oda’s work has been around for more than 20 years, manga is the best-selling in the world with more than 516 million volumes sold), the streaming platform has enough to attract people. But on the other hand, there is a risk of greatly disappointing. Mainly because live-action manga adaptations are very rarely successful.
On Netflix, death Note (2017) had already raised eyebrows. Then the series cowboy bebop (2021) was terminated after just one season. It would be a shame to get to the same result with A piece given the large investments – we are talking about a budget of 100 million dollars for the ten episodes of the first season. We will obviously have to wait and see to judge. However, the first teaser just unveiled by Netflix (video in an article) already risks being talked about.
A first teaser unveiled by Netflix
We find in these pictures the hero Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) which announces, as in the original work, the desire to become the pirate king. For this he will have to get his hands on a treasure, the One Piece, which will allow whoever holds it to take over from Gol D. Roger.
He will not be alone in his task since, as we can see in the teaser, the young man will train a small crew with very different characters. There will be Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd) or even Sanji (Taz Skylar) who can already be seen in these images. To discover the entire season 1 of A pieceappointment August 31 on Netflix.
