Elementary : The new Pixar film is in theaters

Eight years later Arlo’s Journeydirector Peter Sohn is directing his second feature film: Elementary. Twenty-seventh Pixar Studios adventure, the film tells the story of Flam and Flack, two teenagers who seem to be against everything. A tradition absent from the film

Along with their groundbreaking animations, comedic twists and relentless emotions, Pixar films have something more: their Easter eggs. It’s no secret that Pixar movies are full of hidden nods and references. For example, Pixar’s most famous Easter egg is undoubtedly the pizza planet truckappearing in the vast majority of the company’s films, including Elementary. Another recurring reference, the declaration A113 which refers to the class number of CalArts, an animation school in California where John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton and Brad Bird met.

Another recurring easter egg from Pixar movies is the presence of actor John Ratzenberger in the casting. This American actor, director and screenwriter appears in the vast majority of Pixar films, in which he always expresses at least one character. A tradition that began in 1996 with the first Pixar feature film, History of the toy, in which he voices Ham. Bulk, she also lent her voice to the Yeti Monsters and Companyto enter Automobiles or even at the Demolisher in The Incredibles. John Ratzenberger was considered the lucky charm Pixar Studios for years.

However, for some movies now, John Ratzenberger no longer appears. The last cameos of him date back to After you (2020), where he voices a construction worker Fennick, and in Drunk (2020), where a character looks like him. Nevertheless, John Ratzenberger is absent from the last 4 Pixar films, know Luca, red alert, Buzz Lightning and so Elementary.

As for why John Ratzenberger no longer appears in Pixar films, no official reason was shared by the studios or by the client concerned. Today 76 years old, it would appear that John Ratzenberger is no longer honoring his own tradition. Also difficult to know if he will return in the future. There is, however, a chance to hear John Ratzenberger’s voice again In and out 2, scheduled for June 12, 2024, as he doubled as little Fritz in the first part. In any case, John Ratzenberger is absent Elementary, already screened in French cinemas.
