Secret Invasion episode 2: this important connection with Groot, Infinity War and Iron Man 3

Secret invasion Episode 2: Nick Fury’s past

After a somewhat hesitant start last week, episode 2 of Secret invasion speed things up. This second chapter offers some interesting updates. This new episode explores The past and private life of Nick Fury. The show travels back in time, a few years after the events of Captain Marvel, and reveals the agreement established between the Skrulls and the character of Samuel L. Jackson. A time when the former director of SHIELD attempted to help the shapeshifting alien race find a new planet.

We also learn that it was during this time that the special agent met Gravick, the main antagonist of the series, then a teenager. Finally, the episode concludes with a major twist. Indeed, viewers learn that Nick Fury has been married to a Skrull for thirty years. He shares his life with Priscilla Fury, played by Charlayne Woodard. A new character who should have a role to play Secret invasion.

What are Super Skrulls?

The other major subplot of this episode 2 is about the Super Skrulls. In fact, there is a subgenre of Skrulls in comics: the Super Skrulls. They are so named because, in addition to their shapeshifting power, they have the ability to do so copy some of the abilities of Earth’s greatest vigilantes. In the comics, the first Super-Skrull is Klrt. The latter is created by Drug closed Fantastic Four DNA to improve the genome of his guinea pig. Kl’rt then becomes a Super-Skrull who has the ability to use the powers of each of the Fantastic Four members.

But since the Fantastic Four have yet to be officially introduced in the MCU, the writers of Secret invasion found a small pirouette. In fact, the series replaces the DNA of the quartet with other characters from the MCU. The opportunity that the show offers welcome links to the rest of the MCU.

Groot, Cull Obsidian and the Extremis virus

Indeed, when G’iah (Emilia Clarke), consults the files of the scientist Rosa Dalton, who works for Gravick, she discovers that the Skrulls have access to the DNA of some creatures previously introduced in the MCU. In fact, the Skrulls have the DNA of GrootFrom Shoot down Obsidianvirus Extreme and some Ice beast from the first Thor.

Gravick tasked the scientist duo Dalton with mix these DNAs to create a Super-Skrull. It is therefore an opportunity for the series to offer winks to different films. Groot obviously refers to Guardians of the Galaxy. Cull Obsidian was one of Thanos’ right-hand men. member of the Black Order, who is killed by Bruce Banner at the end ofAvengers: Infinity War.

The Extremis virus is introduced in Iron Man 3 and allows the user to gain strength, speed, and launch volleys of fire, with the risk of exploding. Finally, Ice Beast is the monstrous creature of the Ice Giants that comes into play at the beginning of Thor.

A tasty mix that should lead to a powerful Super Skrull. Anyway, episode 2 of Secret invasion suggests that the Skrulls have been operating in the shadows for several years now. And that they have access to many places and many characters. They the influence is therefore certainly much stronger than what the series wants us to believe for the moment.
