Alec John Suu, Former Bon Jovi Bassist, Dies at 70

Alec John Su, bassist and founding member of Bon Jovi, has died. He was 70 years old.

John Bon Jovi on Sunday announced the death of John Sash, bassist for the New Jersey rock band from 1983 to 1994. Details on when and how John Sauce died were not immediately released. The Bon Jovi publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“It was original,” Bon Jovi wrote in a Twitter post. “As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was an integral part of the group’s formation.”

Bon Jovi named John Soo as a member of the band, noting that he was a childhood friend of drummer Tico Torres and brought in guitarist/songwriter Richie Sambora to see the band play. John Su played in a band called Message with Sambora.

Born in Yonkers, New York, John Su was a veteran figure in the thriving New Jersey music scene who helped create Bon Jovi. As manager of the Hunka Bunka Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey, John Sash booked Jon Bon Jovi & The Wild Ones before joining the singer-songwriter group. He played with Bon Jovi during the band’s heyday in the 1980s.

John Su left the band in 1994, when he was replaced by bassist Hugh MacDonald. He later reintroduced the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

“When John Bon Jovi called me and asked me to be in his group many years ago, I soon realized how serious he was and had the vision he wanted to take us on,” said John Sush at the Hall of Fame. . “And I’m very happy to be a part of that vision.”
