Sugar Battles: How to Manage High Blood Sugar

Hyperglycemia is a more common problem than you might think. Sugar can go up even because of stress! And not always associated with excess weight or malnutrition. If you have “high sugar”, remember these rules and do not bring the body to type 2 diabetes.

Check your blood sugar before meals and two hours after.

Do not take care! In our articles, we collect the latest scientific data and the opinions of authoritative health experts. But remember: only a doctor can diagnose and prescribe treatment.

A glucometer (a device to measure blood sugar levels) is fairly inexpensive, but it can provide many benefits. And if at the next medical examination you were offered to pay attention to sugar, do not reject it. Appropriate measurements will help you determine whether and which medications you need.

Track dynamics

If, for example, sugar has risen in the morning, this is not scary. But if this happens all the time, your liver may produce too much sugar while you sleep. And this needs to be checked!

change gradually

To reduce sugar levels, you can exercise more, eat fewer carbs, and generally watch your diet. But you should not take conditional 7 on a glucometer (at a rate of up to 6) as the end of the world and indispensable diabetes. It is quite possible that it was a random jump that will not happen again.

Rest more

It’s not just food that can raise blood sugar. For some people, it happens due to stress or life troubles and sometimes leads to overeating. And from there – too sweet, and now sugar is breaking records. Such changes, of course, must be monitored.

How to lower your sugar level

A glass of pumpkin or chicory juice instead of coffee are good options, but short-lived. To keep sugar levels as low as possible, exclude certain foods from your diet:

  • fatty meat;
  • bread and rolls (except whole grain options);
  • smoked meats;
  • Fast food.

The result will not keep you waiting if the increase in sugar levels is associated with diet. If the body has not worked properly for a long time, be sure to go to the doctor.
