Van Gogh and Sunflowers with Tomatoes

In October 2022, activists threw tomato soup on the board Vase with fifteen sunflowers by Van Gogh on display at National Gallery, In London. The work was valued at 84.2 million pounds (R$ 506 million), and only suffered damage to the frame thanks to the layer of glass that protected the frame.

The group Just Stop Oil, which seeks to draw attention to the climate crisis, was responsible for the act. After throwing soup, activists tried to paste their own bodies on the wall of the place and were then arrested. Activists declared that they took into account the frame’s glass layer before planning the act.
