Since starring in the series disney+, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (2019), OliviaRodrigo became a rising star in pop culture. At just 18 years old, her debut album, sour (2021), won three categories of Grammy, music’s most important award. Now, the singer left her acting career a little aside to focus on her first international tour.
In the third season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Rodrigo has already been described as a “special guest” and no longer part of the series’ main cast, earning a fitting send-off for her character by moving to California.
Still, with the many cameos by the film’s original actors High School Musical throughout the 4th season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, the hope remained that Rodrigo would make a surprise appearance at the end. But unfortunately, Rodrigo does not return for the series finale disney+.
While Rodrigo doesn’t reprise his role as Nini at the end of HSMTMTS, it wasn’t for lack of trying. To the The New York Timesthe showrunner Tim Federle said he considered bringing Olivia Rodrigo back to the end, but “something was going on at the time and the schedule was tough”. Reiterating how important Rodrigo is to the series, Federle mentioned how he was “lucky” to have someone talented on the show for so long.
