One of the biggest surprises for television series in 2023, the first season of My Adventures with Superman officially ended this Friday, September 1, 2023, with the airing of the episode “country crowns” at HBO Max.
“My Adventures with Superman accompanies clark kent, Lois Lane It is jimmy olsen in the process of discovering who they are and what they can do while saving their city from forces that conspire to destroy it,” reads the streaming service’s synopsis.
The cast has jack quaid (clark kent/Super man), Alice Lee (Lois Lane), Ishmel Sahid (jimmy olsen), darrell brown (Perry White), Joel de la Fuente (General), jake green (Dr Ivo), Azuri Hardy-Jones (Flip), Chris Parnell (Agent Slade Wilson), Debra Wilson (Amanda Waller), between others.
The public and critical reception was so good that the animation of the A.D already has a second season confirmed, but still no premiere date. Thinking about that, Rolling Stone Brazil separated six reasons to watch the animation.

animation style
In most recent productions, there is a standardization in the animation style of the characters of the A.Dmuch of it due to the shared universe of animated films from dc comicsknown as DC Animated Movie Universe.
Although, My Adventures with Superman it has some simpler traits that are quite inspired by anime, but without that characteristic exaggeration in the characters’ features and actions. In addition, the action scenes are very well done, especially when the protagonist uses his powers.
Revamped characters (not all)
With the exception of Super man, Lois Lane, jimmy olsen and some others, the animation made a striking visual makeover of several characters from the A.D – and that’s great. As far as it strays from the source material, it’s pretty cool to see other visions for other characters.
The most notable changes, for example, are Slade Wilson (which later became the exterminator in comics), Mister Mxyzptlk and a mysterious character who looks a lot like Lex Luthor: he wears purple, the character’s characteristic color, and has already shown himself to be quite contrary to the Kryptonian’s existence. Diversity
For several years, the vast majority of the big and popular characters in comics A.D (and Marvel) were white from the beginning. However, over the years, the publishers and studios responsible for the adaptations began to include other ethnicities and sexualities in the media.
this happened to My Adventures with Superman. gay characters appear jimmy olsen is a black man, Lois Lane is Japanese-American, in addition to the emphasis on Amanda Wallerwhich steals the show in any production of A.Dbe it cartoon or live-action.
Good old Superman as we know it
The last representation of Super man in theaters attracted a lot of criticism. interpreted by Henry Cavillthe character gained a darker point of view in the films directed by Zack Snyder. The hero didn’t show that optimistic air as seen in the comics, but he would probably “conquer” that over the course of the movies of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
However, My Adventures with Superman show a clark kent very faithful to the comics, from the clumsiest way clark to lightness when assuming the hero’s mantle, and saves from kittens in trees to people in the middle of epic battles against villains.
good entertainment
Lasting just over 20 minutes on average, the 10 episodes of the animated series go by quite quickly and keep you attentive at all times – and the desire to move on to the next one only increases. Each chapter is like an adventure, without major consequences for the rest, but there is great character development and narrative construction there.
great voice work
All the actors and actresses who lent their respective voices to the characters do a great job, from jack quaid as clark kent to the children’s cast, as a character Flip (Azuri Hardy-Jones), an incredible highlight.
