You’ve probably heard that too much sugar in your diet increases your risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.
And you may have already thought that fruits are the same as sugar and therefore it is better not to eat them. What if we told you that this is completely absurd?
Okay, not really us: gastroenterologist and author Will Bulsiewicz shares this view. “There is a common myth on the Internet that it is best for those losing weight to avoid fruit. This is absurd: there is overwhelming evidence in the form of randomized controlled trials that have shown that people who increase their fruit intake do not gain weight, but lose it.
As Dr. Bulsiewicz explains, the sugar in fruit is not the same as that in ultra-processed foods. “Stop avoiding fruit, eat more of it,” advises Will. And here are those that are exactly necessary for those who want to lose extra pounds.
Raspberries
One cup of raspberries contains eight grams of fiber, one-third of the recommended daily amount. Research shows that eating fiber helps you lose weight because it fills you up and helps maintain a healthy gastrointestinal tract.

Pear
Pears are rarely called a superfood, but in vain: a single fruit contains six grams of fiber. Pears are also rich in vitamin C, which fights free radicals that cause inflammation – and it’s very difficult to lose weight without stopping this process in the body.
Blueberry
One cup of blueberries contains four grams of fiber, as well as antioxidants that protect us from aging, UV rays, environmental toxins and stress. Moreover, the vitamin C content of blueberries only increases after freezing!
Oranges
One orange contains four grams of fiber, almost all of our daily vitamin C intake and 10% of our daily potassium intake. These fruits are also rich in carotenoids, antioxidants that help reduce belly fat.
Apples
Apples can do wonders: they help lower cholesterol and improve heart health, thereby reducing the risk of cancer, type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. A study found that Granny Smith also helps with excess weight.
Strawberry
Three grams of fiber and the daily value of vitamin C, that’s what a cup of strawberries is. This berry is also the third largest source of polyphenols, antioxidants that fight bacteria in the mouth and prevent tooth decay.
Bananas
Bananas not only contain 3% fiber, but also resistant starch, a carbohydrate that can improve gut health and speed up fat burning. So if you needed a reason to eat them, here it is!
