Bad guys 4 is on the right track
2020 marked the big return of Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett to cinema in Bad boys for life. In this third film of the saga, which arrived in theaters seventeen years after its predecessor, the two famous characters played by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence this time face each other the Mexican widow of a cartel boss with a mysterious past, and to his son.
At the end of Bad boys for life, one scene clearly opened the door to a fourth part. And after the good box office results of the third, the launch of this new film was made official several months ago. Filming has since begun. The images of the shots were even leaked in June. And even though we didn’t know much about the film until now, one of its directors just made an important announcement.
One more tone light
After directing the first two films, Michael Bay handed over the baton to Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah for the next. The two directors were again chosen to direct the fourth film. And, recent podcast guest The speechEl Arbi revealed it Bad Boys 4 would have a different tone than previous :
I think there will be a lot more comedy. The third had a dramatic tone. With this, our intent is precisely to make people laugh, to have fun at the cinema. Martin goes further. This is the culmination of Marcus Burnett’s story arc.
Bad boys for life However, there was no shortage of comical moments. But he also understood passages that were much less so. According to El Arbi, the general tone of the fourth film it will therefore be more conducive to humor. And with the director’s last sentence, we can expect him to be more focused on Marcus than Mike. Which was the opposite in the previous film.
A title given but not yet validated
El Arbi also announced the title of this new work. He explained that he and Fallah liked this Bad boys ride or die (an expression that could be compared to French “To life, to death”). But he clarified that Sony, the studio behind the franchise, had not done so not yet validated. We will therefore have to wait before knowing whether this title will become official or not.
With the strike currently rocking Hollywood, the release dates of many films scheduled for 2024 have been pushed back. But Fallah recently revealed it Collider that the filming of Bad Boys 4 they had made good progress before the strike began. And Sony announced last July that the film would be released in theaters June 12, 2024. The study therefore seems confident so as not to have to postpone it in the next few months.
