More adult, more planted and above all more rocker, Fonso presents “Día del Trabajo”, his fourth studio album.
This is a beautiful rock album, born as a tribute to the workers of independent Argentinian music, and in which Marilina Bertoldi, Daniel Melingo, Cuino Scornik and El Príncipe Idiota participate.
If his previous works were more playful and experimental because they were made with different types of resources (like his voice recorded with his cordless phone or the sound of percussion made with pepper shakers), “Día del Trabajo” shows a different Fonso , in which for the first time lets itself be performed by another person who is none other than the guitarist Leandro Lopatin (Turf, Poncho).
The 10 songs on “Labor Day” range from progressive rock to garage rock to folk ballads. influenced by Andrés Calamaro, Charly García, Television, Sparklehorse and Lou Reed; as well as by Domingo Faustino Sarmiento (El Facundo), the journalist Lucio Mansilla and the playwright Witold Gombrowicz.
Fonso talks about love, jokes about pop as a concept, investigates human decadence, points out the detractors of fun (like a mash-up between Los Viejos Vinagres and Alta Suciedad), declaims the breakup in order to be able to see the other On the other hand, he demolishes myths, highlights the stress of the city and sings an ironic and poetic ode to work as a force worthy of the human being.
