Snow White returns in the flesh
To continue its frenzy of adapting its classic cartoons into live action, Disney is currently preparing a live action version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs directed by Marc Webb. Brought forward by, among others, Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, the feature film will tell the adventures of the brown-haired princess (Zegler), as she flees from her kingdom to escape the hunter that her stepmother (Gadot) has sent for kill her. In her escape she will meet seven creatures who will welcome her among them and with whom she will find comfort and a new way of life.
The first image of the remake divides
In 2022, following an outburst by Peter Dinklage, Disney declared that the dwarfs in the live action version of Snow White would instead be “magical creatures” so as not to offend the sensitivity of people with dwarfism. This decision was also harshly criticized by the public, who were therefore waiting to find out more about these famous “magical creatures”.
At the end of October we finally discover how these famous “creatures” appear in the first image of the live action Snow White. And the least we can say is that this first preview divides fans!
In this first image we notice that the seven creatures were created digitally and are not played by real actors. If we easily recognize Dopey (behind Snow White’s left), the others are not exactly faithful to the cartoon. It seems that Disney has therefore opted for a mix of hobbits, elves and dwarves, in CGI. Which not everyone liked…
In fact, comments quickly emerged online, with most regretting Disney’s choice to use special effects for these characters. We can thus read that the drawing is “horrendous” and “not at all faithful to the cartoon”.

Release date postponed by one year
Although the release was initially scheduled for March 2024, The Snow White movie has finally been delayed by a year and will therefore be released in theaters in March 2025. This decision follows the strike that has paralyzed Hollywood for several months. If the scriptwriters’ one is finished, the actors’ one continues due to the lack of agreements reached with the studios, which affects the release schedule (filming is finished, let’s imagine there are some shots to do).
