The response was concise and the message couldn’t be clearer: It’s not a good idea to ask Adam Driver certain questions. The American actor, known in particular for his interpretations in the Star Wars series, with Jim Jarmusch or even in The last duelit was indeed taken away against a spectator during a question and answer session following the screening of Ferrari by Michael Mann, in which he plays the lead role.

The scene took place at the 31st Camerimage, a Polish film festival currently taking place in Toruń. Ferrari is presented there in competition, hence the presence of Adam Driver, also there to receive a EnergaCamerimage Special Award. If it was time for celebration, Adam Driver made a bad face by answering a bold but not illegitimate question about the crash scenes in Michael Mann’s new film. The question was:

What do you think of the crash sequences, which seemed poor, dated and, I must say, shoddy?

Adam Driver did not accompany his insult with other words, nor with a laugh, nor with a counterpoint. What is certain is that the words chosen by the spectator were harsh and that he himself left no room for nuance, but the question was legitimate, especially since the main theme of this festival is cinematographic photography, and therefore the visual aspect of films. Furthermore, this perplexed appreciation of these sequences is not the first time. In fact, when the first trailer was broadcast, some images showing a spectacular accident of a car driven at full speed sparked reactions.

Between criticism, mockery and questions about whether the CGI was finalized on these images, many comments expressed amazement and doubts about the rendering of the sequence. Each of us will be able to check what is happening during the film will air on Prime Video in 2024.
