Denzel Washington as general and warlord
A very ambitious project has just been announced and what we know about it is mouth-watering. This is a Historical filminevitably epic, which will bring together director Antoine Fuqua and actor Denzel Washington, and which will be co-produced and distributed by Netflix. Still untitled, this film will tell part of the life of Carthaginian general Hannibalborn in 247 BC JC and died between 183 and 181 BC JC, famous for his military victories and in particular his attempt to besiege Rome with his remarkably composed armywar elephants.
According to exclusive information from Deadlinethe screenplay for this future film is written by John Logan, who notably collaborated on the screenplays of Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Sky fall AND Spectrumand writes that ofAviator. Suffice it to say about the great show and epic battles, he knows a lot about it. We particularly note on this occasion the mention of Gladiatorsince for Antoine Fuqua’s film it will still be about a general in the fight against Rome. And we can consider that Denzel Washington, currently on the set of Gladiator 2he is therefore preparing himself as best he can for the role of Hannibal.

Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington know each other well, having already collaborated together five times. According to Deadline, in fact, the film should focus on the main battles led by Hannibal, including those of the Second Punic War which pitted Rome and Carthage between 218 and 202 BC JC, and during which he took his elephants across the Pyrenees and the Alps on his way to Rome. After Napoleon by Ridley Scott this year and beyond Gladiator 2 by the same director, next year will leave room for the legendary Hannibal for a new epic film!
