Matteo. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to you. The moments we shared are honestly some of the favorite moments of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and call you a friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I will never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly, my brother, you are finally free. With all my love. And I guess you get to keep the $20 you owe me.
This final touch of humor is sure to please fans of Friendswhen we know that Joey’s character still owed Chandler money.
An unforgettable bond
The friendship between Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Joey (Matt LeBlanc) is one of the series’ most beloved story arcs. It is not for nothing that one of the saddest episodes of the series is the one in which Joey buys an apartment and leaves the shared accommodation with his best friend (before finally changing his decision).
The two characters embody a dream friendship, where only the other’s happiness matters, and where low blows are quickly forgiven (like when Chandler falls in love with Katy, Joey’s ex-girlfriend). Even after crossing the corridor, Chandler remains very close to his best friend, and even confides in him that a room awaits him in the house he bought in the suburbs with Monica during the last season.
After the arrest Friends, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry have remained close and supported each other in their respective careers. In 2016, Matt LeBlanc went to applaud Matthew Perry on stage in London, where he starred in the show The end of desire :
