Milady: the sequel to The Three Musketeers is coming
Eight long months after the first part, which told the story of D’Artagnan’s arrival within the Musketeers, the sequel finally arrives in theaters on December 13th. Titled Miladythis second work of The Three Musketeers will be, as the name suggests, more focused on the main antagonist of the plotplayed by Eva Green.
The story will pick up immediately after the events of the first film, which left D’Artagnan (François Civil) in a very bad situation. The latter thus went in search of Constance Bonacieux (Lyna Khoudri), kidnapped by Milady, before in turn being taken prisoner by mysterious henchmen.
At the same time, civil war is about to break out between Catholic and Protestant forces, i.et the king’s forces decide to besiege La Rochelle, to subdue the Protestants (led by Athos’ brother, Benjamin). The Musketeers are thus sent to the front, with all the danger that this entails.
A wounded Milady
In the new teaser for the film revealed today by Pathé, we discover a wounded Milady, who declares that she has been mistreated by men and that she doesn’t even want them to let her die. This vulnerable image of the character contrasts with that of the first film, in which she manipulated her opponents without showing any weakness. It is in this second film that her secret will be revealed (which readers of Alexandre Dumas’ novel already know) and that we will understand where her ardent desire for revenge comes from.
See you in theaters on December 13th to find out The Three Musketeers: Milady.
