Squid Game: The Challenge, a controversial reality show inspired by Round 6, guaranteed the winner a prize of more than R$22 million
The winner of Squid Game: The Challengereality show inspired by Round 6, is still waiting to receive its prize of US$4.56 million (about R$22.7 million) – the highest amount paid for a reality show. She claims she didn’t take a penny out of the pot 10 months after filming ended (via TMZ).
In an interview with Teamsthe champion Mai Whelan – a 55-year-old woman who escaped Vietnam at a young age during the communist regime – said: “I feel like Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire: The Big Turn(1996): Show me the money!” confirming that he had not yet received the money.
It’s not clear why Whelan hasn’t received the money yet, but it will probably arrive soon – as the end of the program aired this Wednesday (06). A Netflix did not comment on the matter until the publication of this note.
As for your plans with the prize, Whelan plans to buy a nursing home and donate to issues he cares about – including the environment.
Interestingly, many fans of the show have wondered if May would share some of their prize money with other contestants, including the runner-up Phil Cain, a 27-year-old diving instructor. It turns out that the contract signed by the players prohibits them from sharing the money.
Just like in the Korean fiction series, there will be 456 players. Squid Game: The Challenge will be divided into ten parts. Competitors will face tests similar to those of Round 6 (except for the deaths), in addition to new challenges, created for the new series.
