Barry’s Screenplay
The two creators of Barry, Hader and Alec Berg, are also the thinking minds behind the entire plot of the show. The duo wrote all 24 episodes, manages to tie everything together masterfully, without leaving the narrative confusing or even tiring – in addition, each season has only eight chapters, with about 30 minutes long.
Barry’s Direction
Clear, Bill Hader and Alec Berg directed several episodes of the series of the series of the HBObut also give space to other talented names, among them Hiro Murairesponsible for the acclaimed series atlanta. The chapters have a direction worthy of iconic Hollywood films – and each one is a true film and television lesson.
Barry’s performances
Coming from comedy, Bill Hader it doesn’t need presentations in scenes that have a comic character, but it really shines in moments that demand serious and dramatic moments. It is also worth mentioning the impeccable work of Sarah Goldberg, Stephen Root and Anthony Carriganwhich make secondary characters seem as important as the protagonist.
Mix of realism with surreal in Barry
Most episodes of Barry they have a strong grip on realism, but take advantage of some to extrapolate reality and do something more experimental and meaningless (in the best possible way). The best examples of this are “ronny/lily,” 5th episode of season 2, and “710N,” 6th of the 3rd.
Drama and Comedy in Barry
Something very confusing is Barry be nominated as a comedy at the Hollywood awards – as much as it has comedic moments, it’s much more dramatic. Hader and Berg manage to strike a perfect balance between these two genres, and tell a totally plausible story that entertains from start to finish.
