This French action film enters the global Netflix Top 10 of 2023 (for now)

It’s a great performance for the French film AKA, and for its lead actor Alban Lenoir, who was just revealed by Netflix. For the first time in its history, the famous streaming platform has released a semi-annual report particularly rich in numbers, covering hours of viewing of over 18,000 programmes. This effort at transparency it was warmly received by observers.

It is difficult, in fact, to have a complete and unambiguous picture of the progress of the productions developed and/or distributed by Netflix, which until now had not shared too much about its calculation methods and results. The film with Jennifer Lopez was recorded between January and June 2023 249.9 million hours of viewing. An amazing performance, especially since the film started airing May 12th. For the film with Idris Elba, a spin-off of the Luther series, he earned 209.7 million hours of viewing, for availability on March 10.

Of the 10 films in this ranking, nine are English-language productions, except one, in tenth place: AKA. The French action film brought forward by Alban Lenoir and directed by Morgan S. Dalibert really is the only non-English language film climb that high in the first half of 2023, with a total of 120 million hours of viewing. A very good performance since thenAKA was released worldwide on April 28. It is located right behind The pale blue eyereleased in January 2023 and accumulating 120.5 million hours.
