Strong point : Inventing solutions to enable his chickens to compete with and defeat humans, with the help of clever accessories and a fine balance between agility, luck and humor to achieve this. Every action sequence has at least one brilliant idea, and there’s never a dull moment in this fantastic infiltration-extraction adventure. But, weakness : If there is heart in reviving these lovable characters, there is less in the references used. Neither homages nor subversions, the references to the great cinema titles that line up Chicken on the run: the threat of nuggets in the end they appear as somewhat empty and skimmed loss leaders. The proof is already in the title: The threat of the nugget for “The Phantom Menace,” a nod to a famous but absent universe in the film.

The magic is there, but without “great illusion”

Chicken on the run: the threat of nuggets succeeds in its challenge, that of giving a satisfying sequel to the great film of 2000, and of rediscovering some of its magic. But this sequel is less rebellious and less dark, wiser and brighter, “easier” in the sense that it chooses to disperse where Chicken racing the story focused intensely on a place, a problem, a reference. And she offered as much humor as fear, when Chicken on the run: the threat of nuggets it relies much more on its humor.

However, if this new film doesn’t reach the heights of Chicken racingwe get a little of his genius and enough of his magic to enjoy watching top-notch family entertainment.
