Studiocanal purchased a majority stake in Dutch FilmWorks, a leading independent producer/distributor in the Benelux region, for an undisclosed fee.

The company prides itself on its catalog of over 900 Dutch and international films.
StudioCanal will add Dutch FilmWorks to its growing list of European production labels. The company, owned by Vivendi-backed Canal+ Group, already owns Tandem Production and Lailaps Films in Germany, RED Production, Urban Myth Films and SunnyMarchTV in the UK, Spain’s Bambu Producciones and SAM Productions in Scandinavia. .

Dutch FilmWorks directors, including CEO Willem Prussers, co-CEO Marcel de Bloch and COO René van Turnhout, will remain on board following the deal.
