Four-time All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski has again announced his retirement, meaning he will not be joining Tom Brady for a third season at Tampa Bay.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the four-time Super Bowl champion, along with the Patriots and Buccaneers, thanked his teammates and coaches over the years and said he would “calm down” again.
“I want to thank the entire world-class organization of the Buccaneers for an incredible journey, which I am confident will return to the game and help build a champion team,” Gronkowski wrote. Now I’m going back to my retirement home, I’m going back to football, because I knew I would give everything I had, for better or worse, every time I went out on the field. The friendships and relationships I’ve built will last forever and I thank each of my teammates and coaches for giving them everything.”
The 33-year-old retired in 2019 with the Patriots after nine seasons, but returned in 2020 when Brady left for the Buccaneers. Close friends came together to help Tampa Bay win the Super Bowl in 2021.
Gronkovsky had 621 receptions and 92 touches for 9,286 yards in the regular season. He had 98 receptions for 1,389 yards and 15 touchdowns in the postseason.
