Christopher Nolan finally rewarded
THE 81st Golden Globe it took place on the night between 7 and 8 January 2024. The ceremony is always an important event, because being before the Oscars (11 months), it allows us to give some indications on who could then leave with a precious statuette. Among this year’s nominees, Oppenheimer was one of the favorites with 8 nominations (compared to 9 for Barbie). Christopher Nolan’s film then did it he won fiveand last but not least: best drama film, best director, best actor for Cillian Murphy, best supporting actor for Robert Downey Jr. and best music for Ludwig Göransson.
After winning the Golden Globe for Best Director, Christopher Nolan took to the stage to give his speech. He took the opportunity to pay homage to the deceased Heath Ledger. The director had directed the actor The dark Knight (2008) after offering him the emblematic role of the Jolly. But on January 22, 2008, a few months before the film’s release, the actor committed suicide. Then he won numerous posthumous awardsincluding the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.
The support of Robert Downey Jr.
Christopher Nolan then claims that the only time he went on stage at the Golden Globes was to accept the award on behalf of Heath Ledger. A necessarily difficult moment for the director. And he remembers that during his speech he could see Robert Downey Jr. who helped him at that moment.
