A new remake for Tim Burton
Throughout his career, Tim Burton has had the opportunity to tackle adaptations and other remakes on numerous occasions. He has demonstrated that he feels at ease in this exercise and that he is capable of bringing his personal touch to already consolidated universes. We can obviously mention his two films Batmanreleased in 1989 and 1992, but also its remake of The Planet of the Apesthe one of Charlie and the Chocolate Factoryor even his live action versions of classic cartoons like Alice in Wonderlandor more recently Dumbo.
Since then he will have the opportunity to engage in this exercise again soon Expiration announces that he is linked to the remake project of the cult film Attack of the 50 foot womanreleased in 1958, on behalf of Warner Bros. This film had already seen a first remake in 1994, with Daryl Hannah in the main role.
The story follows Nancy Archer, a socially privileged and emotionally disturbed woman, who encounters a giant alien in the desert. After this encounter, she begins to grow to the gigantic size of 50 feet, hence the film’s title. This transformation is accompanied of a quest for revenge against her husband unfaithful and his lover.
The film is often considered a classic of B-cinema. The original has become a cult, especially for its camp portrayal and its kitsch special effects.
Which actress will play the main role?
Deadline also announces that it is the author Gillian Flynn, famous throughout the world for being the origin of the novel Gone girlthen adapted into a film by David Fincher, who wrote the screenplay.
As for casting, we currently have no information on the actress who will play the main role. But Tim Burton likes to work with the same collaborators on his projects, we can imagine that it will probably be one of these : Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci or even Eva Green. The first three are also in the casting Beetle juice2the sequel to his cult film, expected in our theaters on September 11th.
