Naked : intense shooting for Baptiste Masseline (Victor)
Prime Video presented the first season of Naked. In ten episodes the series, made up of three distinct parts, addresses the topic of intimate photos and their dissemination on the Internet. It is through three young people of different ages that the program presents young people in general in our current society. Let’s follow this path Victor in his first year of medicine, the high school student Sofia and finally the young Ada, in college. Everyone will therefore be victims or responsible for the disclosure of intimate photos or videos, which is permitted by the directors Andréa Bescond, Sylvie Verheyde and Lucie Borleteau to tackle different topics while offering compelling intrigue.
As they revealed to us during the promotion of the series, the filmmakers had budget and time constraints, but also a good amount of leeway in terms of casting. A freedom much appreciated by directors who were thus able to direct little-known faces: Léonie Dahan-Lamort (Sofia), Sacha Lauras (Ada) and Baptiste Masseline (Victor). But those who say young actors can also mean a lack of experience. And it was above all Baptiste Masseline who found himself up against it to the needs of the filming.
There was already Andréa Bescond’s desire to have Victor in all plans. From then on, the young actor found himself with a busy schedule. As a safeguard, the director went to great lengths to avoid overtime with his team, persisting so that his actor can relax in the evening. Which didn’t stop Andréa Bescond from scolding him forcefully during a complicated sequence for the boy.
“I blew a fuse”
There is an intense scene in Victor’s part during which the young man receives a barrage of blows from his mother, starring Constance Dollé. Andréa Bescond wanted a precise rendering and she felt that for Baptiste Masseline it could become complicated, as she explained to us in an interview.
Constance Dollé went there and Baptiste received him. It was complicated, I was checking if he was okay. But at the same time it wasn’t perfect and needed to be redone.
It was finally on the third take that the director thought he had the right one, with “something magical and the right rhythm“. Except that in the continuity of the scene, Victor has to turn around and continue his dialogue. But Baptiste Masseline stopped, believing he was not in the right tone. Which caused Andréa Bescond’s angerwho remembers it having fun today.
I blew a fuse. I yelled, “You never cut! If anyone cuts, it’s me! She was amazing!” And then Costanza also intervened: “It’s true, you’re annoying!” Poor boy, she had quite a shouting match.
Baptiste Masseline had to endure the tornado and Andréa Bescond, until the end, did him no favors. Which was accepted by the young actorhappy to learn the trade.
At the end of the sequence, he inserted it as needed. Then she hugged me and said, “I’m sorry, but I’m happy. I’m learning the trade.” I still blamed myself afterward for yelling at him.
