Disney Plus: the X-Men return in a new animated series

X-Men: The Animated Series: a cult series for an entire generation

In the panorama of animated series of the 90s, X-Men: The Animated Series stands out as a true mainstay, having marked a generation of Marvel fans and setting the stage for what many consider it to be the golden age of superhero cartoons. Launched in 1992, this series not only introduced the X-Men to a wide audience, but also set a high standard for dealing with social issues through the prism of superhero fiction.

The success of X-Men: The Animated Series relies heavily on its cast of characters, taken straight from the pages of Marvel Comics. Emblematic figures how Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Gambit, Storm and Professor Charles Xavier were introduced to an audience that, for some, was not yet familiar with the X-Men universe.

In France, the series was broadcast under the title X-Men on the Fox Kids channel. In 2021, the first two seasons will be added to Disney+, which also announces the arrival of a reboot entitled X-Men ’97.
