According to Beau DeMayo, the revival of the classic series from the 1990s is independent of the shared universe stories

For those waiting for the premiere of X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and hoped that X-Men ’97revival of the classic series from the 1990s, was responsible for this, it’s better to get the “little mutant” out of the rain.
