The Hollywood Reporter wins 10 SoCal Journalism Awards, including Journalist of the Year and Best Journalist

hollywood reporter He won 10 awards at the 64th Southern California Journalism Awards on Saturday night, including Seth Abramovich Print Journalist of the Year and Karim Abdul-Jabbar Best Critic.

The Sheraton Universal Hotel hosted an event for the Los Angeles Press Club Awards. Categories included film and television criticism, crime coverage, investigative journalism, art and photography, online broadcast and news, and more.

THR’Her awards followed the 39 nominations announced in May. Abramovich, who was named Newspaper Journalist of the Year (over 50,000 copies), also won Shelley Duvall’s Best Search Entertainment. Abdul-Jabbar received the magazine’s best critic award for the seventh time in a row.

Additionally, Gary Baum won the magazine’s Best Investigative Story award, “Drugs, Death, and Denial in Rehabilitation of the Rich”, and Rebecca Sun won the magazine’s Best Picture award, Film/TV Resurrection. Kelly Marie Tran. Baum, Sun and Katie Kilkenn won the artistic title for Best Printed Lifestyle for “Hollywood’s Favorite Pole Dance Studio”.

In the art/photography categories, Ash Barhamand, Jenny Sargent, Kayla Landrum and Leah Clay Miller won Best Portrait Photography, for Entertainment, for the film “Billy Porter: This is what HIV-Positive Looks Like Now”; Barhamand, Landrum, AB + DM Studio, Ahmad Barber and Donte Morris won Best Entertainment Cinematography for “House of Gaga”; Peter Curie, Kelsey Stephenson and Eric Heinz won the best cover for “Everybody Knows He’s an Absolute Monster: Former Scott Rudin Employees Speak Out About Abusive Behavior.”

In the online categories, Aaron Couch received the Best Person Profile award, for Movie/TV Characters, “The Definitive Spider-Man Collection to Sell in Heartbreaking Circumstances”.

Other special awards of the night included Jamie Masada, founder and owner of Laughter Factory, and 60 minutes’ Bill Whitaker, awarded by Rita Moreno.
