His wife Isabelle, played by Aure Atika, decides to take a holiday alone for the first time in 15 years, leaving Antoine to face the daily realities of running a house and raising children, tasks which until then he had largely passed on to his wife. What begins as a personal challenge for Antoine quickly turns into a series of comical and chaotic situations, highlighting his awkward but sincere attempts to become a better father.
Without being a great film, 10 days without mom is a funny comedy, combining humor and tender moments to explore the challenges of modern parenting.
A sequel released in 2023
At the box office, the film was a great success in France with more than one million spectators in theaters, giving rise, in 2023, to a sequel entitled simply Another 10 days without mom.
Again directed by Franck Dubosc, this sequel once again explores the adventures of the Mercier family who, unable to afford a holiday, find themselves invited to Courchevel in a 5-star hotel thanks to the new husband of Isabelle’s aunt. The hasty departure for this dream stay lasts a moment unexpected turn when Isabelle remains on the station platform, held up by an urgent matter for her law firm. Antoine then finds himself alone with the children skiing, where comical and chaotic situations arise.
Despite using the same ingredients as the original film, this sequel was not as successful at the box office, attracting only 680,000 viewers.
