The Max platform will soon arrive in France
Present in Lille at the Séries Mania 2024 Festival, Clément Schwebig, president of Warner Bros. Discovery Western Europe & Africa, as well as vice president of original productions Max France and Clémentine Bobin, director of the original fiction Max France, showed the first glimpses of the French projects in production for the Max streaming platform (formerly HBO Max). This will be launched on French territory in during the year 2024. These fictional projects revealed are like this series and there are three. This is’A devoted friend, Malditos AND Living with our dead. Malditos it is an original creation. A devoted friend AND Living with our dead they are free adaptations of books.
A devoted friend with Laura Calamy
Of the three projects, it is a priori the one that should get people talking the most. Indeed, adapting Alexandre Kauffmann’s investigative book The Mythomaniac of the Bataclan, Just Philippot is responsible for the production. After two highly successful feature films, The cloud AND Acid, Just Philippot moves away from the environmental disaster genre to stage this psychological thriller that will explore the fate of “Florence”, a woman who presents herself as a survivor of the Bataclan attack, while he is nothing. A fascinating true storywith a nice cast.

It is in fact the actress Laure Calamy (image at the top of the article) who embodies this mythomaniac. She is at the forefront of a casting that also brings together Arieh Worthalter, recently winner of a César for her portrayal in The Goldman trialAlexis Manenti, Annabelle Lengronne, Anne Benoît and Ava Baya. A devoted friend It consists of 4 episodes of 52 minutes each.
Living with our dead
Another adaptation of the series, that of the book by the French writer and rabbi Delphine Horvilleur: Living with our deadpublished in 2021. This series is divided into 8 episodes of 30 minutesand it looks like a “dramaThey are Noé Debré and Benjamin Charbit, two prolific screenwriters who have already worked together on several projects – including the new series Zorro with Jean Dujardin in the title role – which fits Living with our dead.
Léa, 28 years old, is one of the rare female rabbis in France: fragile shoulders, great responsibilities because she has to find answers in the labyrinth of small and big questions in people’s lives. But how can you be a guide to others when you yourself are struggling with the fundamentals of love, family, and searching for meaning?
Malditosby the director of BM of the Lord
The third series announced is Malditos, co-created by screenwriter Olivier Prieur and director Jean-Charles Hue. We owe it to the latter BM of the Lord AND Eat your dead: you will not say it, two films that explored the gypsy world. Same atmosphere then for Malditos.
In the south of France, the head of a gypsy community and her two children fight to save their clan threatened with expulsion due to rising waters. To survive, they will have to push the boundaries of the law and fight in a dark and dangerous universe… while hiding the shameful secret that has haunted their family for seven years.

No information yet on his casting. But it is still likely that Jean-Charles Hue recruited some of the same actors and actresses he had filmed with BM of the Lord AND Eat your dead. Malditos made of 7 episodes of 52 minutes Everything is fine.
