A project under pressure
After the release of Top Gun: nonconformist in 2022, a critical and commercial success that majestically marked Tom Cruise’s return to his “Maverick” fighter pilot suit, it quickly became apparent that audiences wouldn’t have to wait too long to find out the rest. At least, certainly not as long as the 36 years between the films Top Gun by Tony Scott from that of Joseph Kosinski.
It is in fact necessary to strike while the iron is hot, and almost so $1.5 billion of box office receipts all over the world, including plenty of prizes 6 nominations for the 2023 Oscars (win for best sound), Paramount Pictures studios have got their hands on a gold mine that they intend to exploit. Therefore, the formalization of Top Gun 3 was made in January 2024, with Glen Powell and Miles Teller returning together with Tom Cruise for a new mission.
“We have a history”
Very recently, the producer Jerry Bruckheimer, a point of reference for Hollywood blockbusters since the 1980s, and the production of the two films Top Gunspoke to Screenrant and provided new news on the development of Top Gun 3.
Tom Cruise will play the lead role. Tom is awesome. We spent time with him. We have a story. Joe Kosinski had a wonderful idea for the new film and Tom and I really liked it, so we developed it. But we don’t know when we’ll shoot it because Tom is very busy. There he ends Mission: Impossible 8, and has another movie right after. Hopefully we have a script they like and we’ll get back on the air.
Of course nothing gets done Top Gun 3 without the approval and systematic validation of the interpreter of “Maverick”, superstar and fundamental actor of the franchise. And everything that is done, is done according to his schedule, specifically load Right now. Between its partnership with Warner Bros.the next film by Alejandro G. Iñárritu – the one presumably evoked by Jerry Bruckheimer -, a potential appearance in The film critic by Quentin Tarantino, his film which he will have to shoot with Doug Liman in space, Tom Cruise is as usual in a race against time. Top Gun 3 so it is not for now, but it is certain that its production is considered a priority, and that it will literally happen as soon as possible…
