Godzilla and Kong above
It’s what we call a monster start at the box office and no one expected it. At the end of its first three days of release, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empirefifth film of MonsterVerse from Legendary Pictures Studios, got off to a stellar start at the box office. In fact, he has accumulated more than $195 million in revenue at the global box office, including 80 million on North American territory.
It’s a great surprise for the film that brings together Godzilla and Kong and a cast that includes Rebecca Hall, Kaylee Hottle and Brian Tyree Henry. In fact, while forecasts were being established for the North American box office $50 million in terms of revenue, Adam Wingard’s film far exceeded these expectations, grossing $80 million, just behind Dune 2 which for its first weekend had accumulated $82 million of recipes.

The success is all the more appreciable as the first reviews were not kind, e.g Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire comes after the critical, and to its extent commercial, success of Godzilla minus one. In fact, come on Rotten tomatoesthe critical score is set at 53%. On the other hand, his spectator score amounts to ninety two%and it should be noted that internationally the film is currently performing very well in China and South America.
The result of an intense marketing campaign and ultra-spectacular scenes that delighted the public, this success will be confirmed over time, until it surpasses the overall box office of Dune 2for the moment a $627 million of recipes after 5 weeks? The future will tell soon.
