Emma Roberts recalled the day he received a call from Britney Spears — and hung up on the singer. The topic came up during an interview with Live with Mark and Kellylast Monday, April 1st, known as April Fools’ Day.

According to the star of American Horror Storyshe was turning “8 or 9 years old” when her mother, Kelly Cunninghamand his aunt, Julia Robertssurprised her with a phone call Spears.

“It was my birthday and I think I was 8 or 9 years old, and this was in the days of landlines,” said the actress. “My mom and aunt handed me the landline and said, ‘Someone’s on the line for you.’ And I asked, ‘Who?'”

“Happy birthday, Emma! I’m Britney Spears“, the singer reportedly said on the phone. Always suspicious, roberts thought it was a prank. “I looked at them [mãe e tia], I hung up and was like, ‘Hm, nice try.’ They were like, ‘No, that was her,'” she recalled.

Emma admitted that she was and continues to be a big fan of Britney Spears. Upon understanding that it wasn’t a joke, she asked them to call the artist again. “I was so numb and nervous and I was only 8, so I just said, ‘Thank you so much’… I’m shaking just thinking about it,” she continued.

The actress also revealed that she was unable to have a long conversation with Spears, because I was very nervous. She also stated that she “probably” cried after the call.
